Trails off Rampart Range

716 Goes off the road to the right to the top of Mount Herman. Trail 715 goes off both sides. The right goes to Palmer Lake, the left goes down to near Mt. Herman trail head.

Yes These Trails are Tough...

Here is the last cyclist before me who attempted this one.

Rise of Planet of the Apes...

Really good movie. Saw it last night at Angela's suggestion. At first I thought it was a metaphor for what politicians are doing to the country. But I realized at the end, unlike Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd and Obama, the apes were likable.

Sunday Family Bar-B-Que

On the patio. Steak and hamburgers. Great weather. Yum!

How to explain....

...what mountain bike riding is like in a wet year like this one?

Imagine going through aspen groves at speed. In one you are surrounded by butterflies, the next you are riding in a flock of hummingbirds, the next a different type of butterflies.

All the time in an alpine rain forest with bright and beautiful flowers.

That is what it is like.

Assault on Eagle Peak

Someday the difficulty of this climb make me hesitate to say this is the best peak to bag in Northern Colorado Springs.

Someday my legs might give out and the difficulty be to great to make me want to bag it.

Someday my knees might be too sore to attempt the 3500 foot elevation gain in just over a mile.

Someday I might be too tired to enjoy the views and the flora and fauna.

Someday these might all be true, but NOT TODAY!
